ZBB, Fishing and Rugged Maniac

This past week was a fun one!  We went to a Zac Brown Band concert, had Matt's dad come to town for some fishing, ran a mud run, and took a trip to RMNP.

Thursday night was the Zac Brown Band concert.  It was an early birthday present from Matt and his parents - and I loved it!!  Red Rocks is the best place to see a concert.  The weather cooperated and we didn't get rained on.  ZBB played all of our favorite songs and did some awesome covers of DMB "Ant's Marching", Metallica's "Enter Sandman", and Charlie Daniel's Band's "Devil Went Down to Georgia".

On Friday, Ken flew in for a couple days of fishing.  On Saturday, Matt, Ken, and Matt's friend Clint went down to the Deckers area for a good day of fishing on the South Platte River.

The weather, other than 15 minutes of freezing rain, was good.  All three got some good bites, but none were big enough to bring home (to my relief because I have no idea how to clean a fish!).

While they were fishing, I ran the Rugged Maniac with Leah and her sister-in-law Katie.  It's a 5K obstacle course mud run.  We weren't running for time, so took our time and had fun with it!  Yes, we got muddy and dirty and a little scraped/bruised up.  But it was a blast!

On Saturday night, the 3 of us took pizza over to Naomi and Ryan's house.  They had been moving all day so we continued the tradition of pizza on moving day!  They brought pizza to us the day we moved to Denver - it's nice to have dinner provided and not have to immediately search for something to make for dinner.

On Sunday, Matt, Ken, and I went up to Rocky Mountain National Park.  We did short hike up to Nymph Lake and back just to get some exercise in.  Then we went to Sprague Lake where they did some fishing and I did some reading.  The other hikers were laughing at my just carrying my chair and Kindle around the lake while the men fished, but I was perfectly content!  I mean, really, is there a better place to chill and read a book?  I think not.  After Sprague Lake, we went to the stream at Moraine valley.  There we could see the fish, but they weren't cooperating with Matt and Ken and stayed happily in the stream.
