Matt's parent's came in town on Friday evening, driving all day from Ft. Worth. Nancy had been fighting a sinus infection, so she elected to stay in Denver on saturday while the other 3 went up skiing in Breckenridge. A stop at blue moon bakery on the way and we were off to the slopes. The base was pretty nice, and the weather wasn't too bad - a little chilly and overcast, but decent conditions. We skied straight across the resort, from peak 10 to peak 6 and back. Around 1:30 we were exhausted, and after a few beers at the bar we headed back, avoiding traffic on the way home.
Sunday all 4 of us along with Greg and Barb Taylor, friends from Texas who recently moved to the Denver area, drove up to RMNP to go snowshoeing. Greg was pretty skeptical when we drove in to Estes Park and there was only an inch of snow on the ground. Karla and I assured him that where we were going there would be plenty of snow. We had no idea how much we were right. There was probably a foot and a half of fresh snow, and the weather was great. We first snowshoed around Bear Lake to get everyone used to walking with large shoes on your shoes. After that we made it up to Emerald Lake, the second of 3 lakes up to Emerald Lake. Everyone had a blast, and after stopping at a pub for lunch and ice cream in town, we headed back to Denver. A few games of carbles back home finished off the nice weekend.
